Dr. Ya-yu Lo is a Professor of Special Education at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She specializes in school-based multi-tiered interventions using applied behavior analytic approach for urban diverse learners with behavioral disorders. Since joining UNC Charlotte in 2004, she has secured over $2.5 million in external funding as PI or co-PI from institutions including the U.S. Department of Education, the Spencer Foundation, and the European Commission. Dr. Lo regularly teaches a doctoral level seminar in teaching and graduate courses in special education, including advanced classroom management and instructional planning. Her contributions to the field include leadership roles at several professional organizations, including the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Culturally/Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners, Chinese American Educational Research and Development Association, North Carolina Association for Behavior Analysis, and North Carolina Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders. She is the recipient of 2015 Fred Keller Excellence in Behavior Analysis Award from the North Carolina Association for Behavior Analysis.
